Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936) was born in Bombay, India, but was educated in England. In 1882 he returned to India and worked as a journalist. While there, he created stories, sketches and poems, which made him an instant literary celebrity. The Jungle Book, published in 1894, became a children's classic all over the world.
