Little Moa is opening for submissions for one week only.

From midday Monday, 16th November to midnight Sunday 22nd November 2026.

Our aim is to publish books that are found where kids play. Books so good they are taken and read everywhere a child goes; so beloved they are read over and over again until they are falling apart. 

Below is a list of what we think would be great books in the Little Moa collection, although all submissions will be reviewed.

• A picture book series that introduces such an iconic character that kids will want book after book about them and their adventures.

Put simply, we’d love to be the home of a character as funny and endearing as Dame Lynley Dodd’s Hairy Maclary, Frog from Oi Frog, Macca the Alpaca or Sheep from Baa Baa Smart Sheep.

• A junior fiction novel that is filled with adventure, makes kids feel like wishes come true, and builds a world that could become a series.
• A middle grade series that is set in a school, with charaters that have a sense of responsibility and use the strength of friendship to overcome the impossible. 

We appreciate that that we’re asking you to share your work with Little Moa, so rather than submitting a full manuscript we’re very happy to be sent a teaser ie. 

• Approx 1,000 words from the manuscript that will have us hooked, in the case of picture books, this may be the whole manuscript. 
• If you are pitching a series, then an overview would be a series.
• Two books you love and would compare your work to.
• 300 words about yourself.
• 300 words about possible promotional opportunities.
• Social media handles (if applicable).
