Letters to the Bookshop: The life-affirming new novel from the author of The Second Chance Book Club

Formats & Editions

Where would we be without books?

Loveday Cardew, owner of York's Lost for Words bookshop, cannot believe her luck. Her business is thriving. She and her mother, from whom she was estranged for years, have built a strong relationship. And she and Nathan have been together for a decade and married for a blissful year. To give something back, they provide foster care, with seventeen-year-old Heidi arriving now to stay while her mother is in rehab. A love of books helps Loveday to bond with Heidi. All seems well.

But then Loveday realises a huge life change is coming, and for the first time she and Nathan are at odds about the future. Things start to fall apart, and when Heidi leaves, it feels as though Loveday is failing at everything.

Books have always helped Loveday through tricky times. Can books rescue her - and Heidi - now?
