Imogen was raised in Harlow, Essex. She studied English at the University of Exeter and Vassar College, where she wrote a dissertation on the paradoxical freedom of female anchorites. She later qualified as a person-centred therapist and now works in private practice. Her work has appeared in Bi+ Lines: An Anthology of Contemporary Bi+ Poets, The Poetry Review, London Magazine, Amsterdam Quarterly, PN Review and perverse magazine, amongst others. She has been commended in the Foyles Young Poets of the Year Award, the Moth Poetry Prize, the Plough Poetry Prize and the Winchester Poetry Prize, amongst others. She won First Prize in the Ware Poets Open Competition and the E. H. P. Barnard Poetry Prize. Her work has been covered by The Guardian, BBC News, The Spectator, Private Eye and Poetry News, and she has spoken on BBC Radio Essex, BBC World Service and Woman's Hour on BBC Radio 4.
