Author

Johan Scherft

Johan Scherft is an artist and paper engineer based in Leiden, the Netherlands. At an early age he showed a talent for drawing and an interest in animals and nature. The birds he observed inspired him to make birds out of paper, hand-colored with colored pencil. These three-dimensional bird models, along with his drawings, earned Scherft a place at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague. He graduated in 1993. Since then Scherft has worked in various disciplines such as painting, etching, drawing, and illustrating, as well as three-dimensional paper art.Scherft's work has been shown in the Petit gallery in Amsterdam, and the New Realism Stock-exchanges, which take place yearly in the Terminal Halls in Amsterdam. Scherft also participated in exhibitions at De Buitenplaats in Eelde and The Lakenhal in Leiden.
